A Word from Joy Skalko…

            Joy started attending Meadville First Church of God in 2000.  She feels like her church is the one place that she can be herself and not worry about fitting in.  Joy’s enthusiasm for her church is demonstrated in her practice of inviting her friends and neighbors to church.  She follows-up the invitation by greeting them at the door when they walk in and sitting with them during the service.

            Joy’s spiritual journey has taken her beyond all her imaginations.  Through ISL, Joy learned about her spiritual gifts of administration and teaching.  She has been actively using her gifts teaching children, leading and organizing First Church’s women’s ministry.  Her organizational skills were used in the development of a new couple’s ministry called, “Couples Connection.”  

            Joy shares that ISL has impacted her in several ways.  It has helped her realize that she is a leader and is able to encourage others to become leaders.   ISL has benefited Joy by networking her with other leaders in her region with similar visions.  Joy is grateful for the practical disciplines that she has learned through ISL that energizes her life and ministry. 

            Joy is “anxiously excited” as she looks to the future.  She is awaiting the joys God is going to bring her way as she begins the ordination process
